2015: Chaotic Events Creation & Dimension
In 2015 I decided to find a venue to do my annual event at because Ragefestival 2015 couldn’t be hosted at my house, I eventually discovered the venue “Graffiti Warehouse” which hasn’t been used for events in awhile. Since I was no longer doing house parties and switched to venues. I had planned to do something out of my comfort zone by doing a rave, so I changed the company name again to “Chaotic Events” and started setting it up with a dj I booked at prior events named Andrew S. I came up with the event name of “Dimension” to be hosted on October 17th which consisted of 11 acts that performed and cost $10 advance & $20 at door. Extremely nervous I was thinking it wouldn’t be a big turn out but around 200 people showed up and had a blast. Andrew had asked me if I could allow friends of his that were 17 years old in, and I told him I was against it but he begged me till the point I said yes due to him threatening to take down the sound system at the event. Everyone else was checked at door for being 18+ by the security which consisted of 2 of my friends which it was their first time doing anything like that (checking ID’s and doing security), and a armed security guard provided by the venue. I was collecting money during the event and talked to some of the guests occasionally to take photos & ask if they was having fun. Eventually one of the djs Rob asked if I was having fun and I told him I was bored being at door all night and not being able to really enjoy myself much. So, he asked a female friend of his which was in her late 20’s if she wanted to have sex with me. She came up to the door where I was collecting money and started talking to me and asked if I wanted to sneak away for a bit. So we went to the bathroom and we both had consensual sex which didn’t last long due to the security guys needing me to come back. Me and her finished up and I went back to the front, where one of the guys was trying to go in without paying, and we told him if he paid the cover charge he could get in. He continued to argue and cuss at me and security saying he was friends with the dj, and couldn’t even name which dj he was friends with. So he got aggressive pushing me and I grabbed him throwing him against a wall and he tried to fight so my friend pushed him into the bathroom door breaking it & eventually we threw him out. Later on one of my group friends that came to the show Kwin B came up to me while I was working the door again and asked if we could go talk upstairs. So we went up there, and she told me she’s been depressed and her anxiety was acting up really bad so she wanted to get away from the noise. We briefly chatted, up until Robby C came upstairs and forcefully pulled her back downstairs which she wasn’t wanting to do. I ended up going back down and after that we concluded the night and everyone went home.
2016: Sorcery
In 2016 I had multiple events lined up. The first of those events was at a different venue due to lower cost, now at “Club Orpheus”. Me and my friends set up “Ice Age” for January 8th with 6 djs on the lineup. I had invited my friends Phillip and Cj which helped with security at Dimension, and Chris to come. Phillip told me he wanted to bring his buddy “DJ” to the show. So before the event I bought them both food and after everyone got to the show we all had a fun time. At the end of the night I was planning to ride home with Cj & Chris, but Phillip said him and DJ would give me a ride instead. As we got to the top of my driveway DJ pulled a gun on me robbing me of the money from the event, which I was intending to use for my follow up event happening February 19th.
My event in February was a “Harry Potter Themed Event” titled “Sorcery” and was my second time hosting a event at Graffiti Warehouse. The event had a ton of attendees and most were in costume, it had great vibes through the night up until the end. The one dj Andrew that I worked with since the beginning of doing my events had 10 people show up at once saying they were on his guest list when I told him he would get paid & have a plus 1. I allowed him to have a big guest list for Dimension and again during Ice Age where I told him I wouldn’t allow it anymore. I told them they had to pay the cover charge and this ultimately disrupted the event since he brought sound equipment and started to take it down out of anger. During that time the dj duo “X’s 4 I’s had cornered me in the hallway, they asked me for more money cause the event was doing good. I told them no because we already had a set pay agreement in place before the event started. They started to get mad so I called my friend Cj that was helping at door and running the door money out to the car to bring some of it back. While trying to talk to him they continued to become more mad and it resulted in them jumping me. As I was trying to fight them by myself Cj came running in to help and the security guard hired by the venue took them outside in handcuffs asking if I wanted to press charges on them and I said no. Eventually after arguing back & forth I gave them more payment than agreed on. After everything went down it resulted in a bad look on my end due to the drama but also having to shut down the event earlier than anticipated so some customers were angry over that. After that night there was talk between some of the lineup that I “Refused to pay the artists” which wasn’t the case at all. From that point gossip about me being a “Bad promoter” began.
2016: Lights & Sound
At the next event “Lights & Sound” on July 23rd it consisted of mostly new artists. During the event I was working door with Cj and there was a girl named Su that came up to me and started talking about music. She went back to dancing and I continued checking people in. Later on I had to go pee and as I came out I saw a guy trying to take her upstairs. I told him that upstairs was restricted due to the venue owners rules so they had to come back down to the main room. After telling him that he got really defensive and cussed me out, I could see she had something wrong with her so as he continued arguing & trying to take her upstairs I decided to kick him out. He grabbed his friend from the music room and she told me to talk to her in the bathroom. She tells me she was tripping bad on acid for her first time and didn’t feel comfortable around that guy. So, I texted Doug one of my security guys to come help me out and bring water. As we got her outside to cool off, the guy & his friend come outside and brought one of the djs Zach G which operates the company “Zodiak” based out of Annapolis Maryland. They all kept trying to get her to leave with them saying “she rode with us, we were going to get her home safe”. I then told them that she told us her car was in the parking lot and she came by herself so they needed to leave before I called the cops on them. The main guy kept walking around the perimeter of the venue and they got a Uber to pick them up. Zach & his friends pulled into the alleyway with the Uber trying a final time to get her to leave, and I told the driver to leave before I busted out his car windows. Eventually at the end of the night sales were not good and some of the djs were upset over not getting paid, which I discussed another event and offering advance payment & prime slots to perform which they agreed to. After the event, me and the guys doing security had gotten ahold of Su’s sister to come pick her up and she came to get her. Me & Su remained friends for awhile after the event going to see the band Red in concert and also hanging out at the park, she told me she was thankful that I protected her from a bad situation. Soon after the event people began to find out about the charge from what happened with the case about Abbie that’s posted below. Most people stopped playing my events and said I was taking advantage of people in the bathrooms & letting underage people in when I did neither of those things during the entire time running Chaotic Events. Andrew, one of the djs from the first venue event “Dimension” did ask if I could let some of his friends that were 17 come for his set and I allowed that one time only & marked them at the door. The following 2 parties “PokeParty” on December 9th 2016 and “Neon Wonderland” on January 12th 2017 were the final events hosted under Chaotic Events. Also while I was doing events under Chaotic Events, I didn’t have a big promotion team or any financial help. I didn’t always make the best decisions with budgeting things properly, or notify acts properly about changes to set times or the event itself. Usually I was just embarrassed on my end when I made mistakes and tried to brush them off instead of taking care of some of the situations properly. I had angered different various djs I worked with while hosting events in Baltimore due to that and I openly wanted to apologize about that if anyone was ever upset with how I handled business or event related situations.
